猛牌音响
　 猛牌音响诞生于1972年，是由一位具有印度血统的英国人MO Iqbal和大名鼎鼎的音响评论员Martin Colloms在1972年创立的。上世纪60—70年代，无疑是英国音响的黄金时代。随着所谓“BBC”喇叭规格的确立，英国涌现出一批以KEF为代表的具有世界级影响力的音响品牌。其中“猛牌”（MonitOr Audio）以个性鲜明、性能杰出，在英国发烧音响工业这个巨大金字塔的顶部牢牢占据着一席之地。 现在随着人们生活质量的提高，越来越多的人们开始追求精神品位，像现在的家庭影院就已经成为了一种时尚的精神品位需求。猛牌也成为现阶段家庭影院音响器材中最受欢迎的一个品牌。

彻底开放，方正典雅声音逼真，临场感强烈。鲜明的同时有良好的平衡感，动作、动感场面都表现得相当充分。猛牌音箱的独特之处，在于采用全金属振膜的单元，高档型号的中音和低音单元，也都采用金属锥盆。在当时，金属锥盆单元还是个稀罕物事，采用这种单元的品牌，无一例外都是高价名箱。记忆所及，当时采用金属盆单元的英国音箱品牌，就只有猛牌、AE和JPW这几个。

在1972年Mo Iqbal与合伙人Martin Colloms创立了猛牌（Monitor Audio），而猛牌开山之作MA1，就是出自Martin Colloms的设计。这为猛牌打下了一个良好的基础，获得了大家的好评。虽然Martin后来退出了猛牌，但一直与猛牌保持着密切的联系，直到MO Iqbal 退休之前，还帮助猛牌设计了一些非常著名的型号。
1974年，猛牌推出了MA3音箱，这是一款BBC规格的3分频大书架音箱，从3段频率控制面板来看，确实是专业监听喇叭的风格；在英国，涉足BBC监听音箱的品牌。
1975年猛牌又推出MA5 后来几乎都名扬天下，这一定律也适用于猛牌，据说就是这几款音箱，奠定了猛牌在发烧音响界的江湖地位。
1985年马歇尔为猛牌设计的R852MD上市，它采用了新型航空材料铝镁合金作为球顶材料，是英国最早采用金属球顶高音的音箱之一，让猛牌最终声名大噪 。Monitor Audio MA5 HiFi Loudspeakers

Monitor Audio is a Cambridge based speaker manufacturer set up in 1972 by Mo Iqbal and continuing today under new ownership. The company designed, developed and manufactured its products in-house, and was responsible for a number of notable innovations in hifi loudspeaker development and tweeter design. From the outset, the company benefited from having its own cabinet making division which no doubt contributed to the excellent quality of its products and the claim to be the third biggest UK manufacturer of quality loudspeakers.
The MA5 model first appeared in 1975 and was the second loudspeaker designed and manufactured by the company. In addition to the very well built infinite baffle cabinets, the MA5 incorporated the excellent KEF B200 bass / mid-range driver, so favoured by top class speaker manufacturers of this era, and complemented by an Isophon tweeter and crossover. The overall impression on playing a wide range of material is of an open sounding speaker with a big soundstage from relatively small speakers, firm musical bass which extends quite low down and generally nice balance and detail. The treble can occasionally sound slightly hard on some orchestral recordings but this is not a strong criticism and will not affect the overall enjoyment of the speakers which are capable of playing long and loud without causing fatigue - a sure sign of low distortion.
In short these speakers, while not competing directly with the best and most expensive offerings of the period, are not very far behind and really are hidden gems for little money. Link them to a decent amp and enjoy!
